When I was a kid, I really don’t have a clue what fennel is. My mum has never used it for her cooking. Little do I know that it exist. Until one day a schoolmate brought this with her. I looked at it with curious eyes. She bited in the raw fennel. Unfortunately, I couldn’t recall what I was thinking back then. Maybe I was envious and wish I could have a bite too.😅
It’s kind of interesting that I still remembered this. Nothing special at all but maybe it’s relating to food. That’s why.
Fennel is not everyone’s favourite due to it special taste. It has a taste similar to licorice. You either like or cannot stand it.
I personally don’t like licorice but fennel. When you eat it raw, the strongly taste of licorice comes up. However, it goes well with salad.
I chose to simmer it in beetroot water with a dash of lemon juice. Gave it a freshing taste and the fennel would be coloured, which is nice for the eyes too.
Truly light and matching with my other stars.
My superstars: fennel and sea bass with onions
