Back in my childhood, my mum used a lot of this herb in her kitchen. Thanks to her, Shiso wasn’t a strange word to me. In fact it was something comforting. I like the fragrance and the flavour too.
We ate it most of the time raw and sometimes my mum would wrapped them with mince meat, which is very tasty. I liked it a lot.
She would also planted them on her balcony, to make sure there is enough.
I have started to plan them as well. The first time they came very well and that’s it. The next time nothing grew.
Last year I tried again and harvest loads. This year I was concerning that I would be empty-handed. Little do I know, all the seeds from last year were spreaded around. They were growing on the meadow too. How blessed I am.
I cannot emphasized how good Shiso is. When you have allergy, they are good for that too.
My superstars: padron peppers, rice, rib eye on Shiso
